A research team from University of Basrah obtains a patent from a standardization and quality control device

The research team at the College of Pharmacy, which is composed of Prof. Dr. Falah Hassan Shari, Dr. Rafid Abdel-Raouf Dolab, and Dr. Raghdan Hashem Mohsen, obtained a patent to enable them to produce a kit to isolate the Corona virus through urine and feces and extract its RNA)
The patent included several productions to isolate the Corona virus through urine and feces and extract its RNA. This patent is one of a group of patents carried out by the research team of the University of Basrah under the direct supervision of the President of the University, Professor Dr. Saad Shaheen.
Work was also carried out in the laboratories of the Electron Microscope Unit at the College of Pharmacy, one of the products of fighting the Corona pandemic at the beginning of its global spread to develop quick and effective solutions in the absence of traditional methods of isolating the COVID-19 virus.

The objective of this manufactured product was the important role in containing COVID-19 through speed and accuracy, allowing the rapid implementation of control measures that limit the spread of this epidemic through case diagnosis, tracing of prophylactic treatment, isolation and mixing (i.e. identification of people who may have contact with a patient  infected) where the causative agent of COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus that belongs to the genus betacoronavirus of Coronavirida, that family which has a genome sequence similarity of about 80%, 50% and approximately 90% to SARS-CoV and MERS-  CoV and SARS-like bat-CoV respectively [1,2,3,4]
