College of Pharmacy held a seminar about anti-bacterial activity of certain compounds.

Basrah - College of Pharmacy Media:

The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah organized a seminar titled "Synthesis and Study of the Antibacterial Activity of Some Azole Compounds," presented by Pharmacist Suhail Hussein Jawad.

The seminar included the synthesis and characterization of a new series of Oxadiazole compounds. This type of compound is considered a basis for commercial drugs available in global markets, such as Raltegravir, used as an antiviral, and Tiodazosin, used as an antihypertensive. Therefore, attention was directed to this type of compound, and its biological activity was tested as an antibacterial agent against various types of bacteria. The results showed that these synthesized compounds possess promising biological activity as antibacterials.

The seminar also demonstrated the synthesis of a series of new organic compounds and their use as antibacterial agents against three types of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
