Assistant Professor Dr. Laila Jassem, a teaching assistant at the College of Pharmacy, participated in the symposium on World Environment Day, which was organized by the Department of Chemistry, College of Science, University of Basrah. The symposium included several lectures on the positive impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the environment during curfew , the suspension of transportation of all kinds and factories, and the lack of emissions of toxic gases, including carbon oxides. As for the negatives that accompanied this, it is the accumulation of waste such as masks, plastic waste and others due to lack of movement The symposium also discussed air pollutants in Iraq, especially in Basrah Governorate, as they contain oil emissions from oil fields, as well as lead and sulfur pollution.
