Pharmacology and Toxicology Department Organizes a Panel Discussion on Neurovascular Intervention for Stroke Treatment

 

Aligning with contemporary medical advancements, the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the College of Pharmacy organized an insightful panel discussion titled "A New Era for Stroke Treatment: Neurovascular Intervention... An Overview."

The primary objective of the panel discussion was to thoroughly introduce attendees to the symptoms of stroke and emphasize the critical importance of time in administering treatment. Furthermore, the session aimed to spread vital medical awareness regarding advanced prevention mechanisms and treatments for stroke, which remains a significant global health challenge.

The session featured a specialized lecture delivered by Dr. Shaimaa Mohammed Ali. She presented a comprehensive introductory overview of neurovascular intervention, detailing its precise diagnostic and therapeutic applications. Dr. Shaimaa clarified the paramount importance of this highly specialized medical field in treating numerous critical and complex conditions affecting the head, neck, and spinal cord.

The lecture intensively focused on the application of vascular intervention as a targeted treatment for stroke. Presenting scientific evidence, she demonstrated that this intervention is significantly more effective and successful compared to older, traditional therapeutic methods utilized to combat this severe disease, which is currently classified as the second leading cause of death worldwide.
