The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah is preparing for the winter agricultural season by rehabilitating the lands with all requirements.
The head of the Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Plants Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Ola Muhammad Nour Al-Moussawi, stated: The college is preparing for the winter agricultural season, and according to the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the necessity of afforestation and activating this initiative launched by the Ministry, as our college has re-plowed the lands, fertilized them, and purchased agricultural seedlings that are suitable for the winter season.
Al-Mousawi added: A number of students from the College of Pharmacy also participated in this initiative by purchasing various seedlings and starting to plant them. We also took advantage of the areas devoid of agriculture and made fences in order to make the afforestation process successful and to protect the trees from soil salinity. Thus, we have succeeded in welcoming winter with different types of trees and plants that add a special elegance to the college’s corridors and provide a beautiful outlet for our teaching and administrative staff and our dear students.
