The University of Basrah participated in the activities of the Iraq Education Exhibition and Conference for the period from 16-19 September 2023 on the grounds of the Baghdad International Fair, under the patronage and presence of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi. The University of Basrah participation was represented in the presence of the President of the University, Professor Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, and the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Falah Hassan. Shri, Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Ramzi Salem Ali, and Dean of the College of Computer and Information Technology, Professor Dr. Salma Abdel-Baqi Mahmoud.
The exhibition was opened by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, with Arab and international participation and a distinguished academic presence.
In his speech during the opening ceremony, the Minister of Education affirmed that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research succeeded in establishing an environment of openness to global academic spaces and took a decision that Iraqi universities bear the non-stereotypical identity that is gained from the international track in interaction, presence and competition, pointing out that the projects of the Higher Education Institution are characterized by methodology and are characterized by strategic vitality,
Pointing out at the same time that the most prominent of these projects is the unprecedented educational transformation to the Bologna path, which was implemented through partnership and cooperation with UNESCO in technical universities, and that it will take its path to implementation in more than (600) specialized departments in colleges of engineering and science in governmental and private university formations. The pilot project (Study in Iraq), in which more than three thousand international students registered to study in Iraqi universities,
He added that the Ministry of Higher Education has focused on the quality of university outputs and the advancement of solid scientific publishing in international institutions, in which Iraqi researchers have achieved important percentages worthy of praise.
He stressed that moving towards quality requirements and adopting the foundations of electronic governance represents a foundation for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in order to achieve the highest rates of solid achievement for university formations and represents the conclusion of the careful review and evaluation of the methodological paths and the analysis of their outcomes according to an objective, purposeful vision that enables academic institutions to respond to the requirements of the labor market and achieve Dimensions of community service that represent the clearest form of academic performance and assuming responsibilities. The conference discusses topics (educational systems, scientific research, scholarship programs, innovation and the future of educational technologies, legislation and government relations for the education sector, entrepreneurship and industrial cooperation, quality assurance and evaluation).
The opening activities included a number of official speeches from the presidency of the Parliamentary Higher Education Committee and representatives of international institutions and companies, including the Business Empowerment Company, which expressed its high appreciation for the interaction provided by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the areas of employment and scientific work.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, toured the exhibition halls, which included pavilions for Iraqi governmental, private, Arab and foreign universities, technology and education companies, and a number of organizations.
