Faculty of Pharmacy publish research in an international journal

The faculty of pharmacy, Dr. Hussam Hamza Salman, Dr. Munther Abdul Jalil Muhammad Ali and Dr. Iman Tariq Ali published a paper (Preparation and study of the anti-cancer efficacy of some new nitrogen compounds derived from terephthaldehyde) in the Nigerian Tropical Journal of Pharmaceutical Research with an impact factor of 0.439 within the Clarivate classification. A score of 0.6 within the SCOPAS classification. The research included a study of neutrons, which are bipolar compounds that contain a group of azomethene (-C = N + -O-) and have biological and chemical effects. These compounds have many beneficial and pharmacological effects, such as anti-cancer, antifungal, bacterial, and antioxidant effects. The research showed that cancer is ranked second after heart disease, and it is one of the diseases that lead to a high rate of patient mortality. There are more than 100 types of cancer, and the most common type among women is breast cancer. The causes of cancer are still largely unknown, so six new compounds were prepared by reaction of condensation of terephthaldehyde with hydroxylamine compounds of nitrobenzene and some of its derivatives to test their effect on breast cancer cells and their biological efficacy. IC50 values were obtained by estimating MTT and their effects on Cell death. MCF-7 Some of the prepared compounds showed anti-cancer properties for this type of cell. The aim of the research is to investigate the potential anti-cancer effects of some new neutrons derived from terephthaldehyde against breast cancer cells cell line MCF-7 compared to normal cells and control and the possibility of using these compounds as anti-cancer and oxidative agents, as this study is considered an applied research for cancer treatments.
