The College of Pharmacy organizes a seminar on antioxidant activities

The Pharmacology and Toxicology Department at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah organized a panel discussion entitled (Examining the antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activities of a new synthetic method for preparing 5-selenacyanouracil against acetaminophen in rats) with the participation of researchers and specialists.
The panel discussion included a lecture by Sahar Moayed, a graduate student, in which she showed how to prepare a new compound that contains selenium with 5SeU in an aqueous medium.
The compound was analyzed, its chemical properties were studied, and the average lethal dose was calculated. And studying the pharmacological efficacy of this compound, the results showed that it has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. The study of histological sections reinforced these results.
