The Crisis Cell at  University of Basrah   held a press conference at the College of Pharmacy at  University of Basrah  in order to announce the second phase of its scientific achievements in facing the outbreak of the Coronavirus epidemic, and at the beginning of the conference, University President Dr. Saad Shaheen spoke, indicating: Today I announced the innovation of the ventilator device that was limited to companies Certain manufactures the device, thank God, it was manufactured by the cadres of the College of Engineering at our university and it was tested on laboratory animals, which is a very important initiative. We will produce 15 devices daily and we will equip the Ministry of Health and its formations with this device to avoid a crisis in the availability of respirators in Basrah  hospitals and other governorates. And he continued: And also with regard to medical swabs, they have become 100% local product and we have completed large quantities with the efforts of the scientific research team at our university and we will no longer need to import it from abroad. We also started the actual production of chlorine in the form of packages in the university laboratories and we will distribute it to needy families or it may be sold at a nominal price to sustain work and production. As for the member of the Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee, Dr. Abd Aoun Allawi Al-Abadi, he praised the scientific research team working at  University of Basrah  for its efforts in preparing and producing the transport medium and confirmed that their efforts contributed to alleviating the crisis, despite all the circumstances,  University  Basrah cadres were able to fill the deficiency in the health departments of Basrah and the Iraqi governorates . on his part, Dr. Hassan Khalati for the Health Committee in Parliament as well as on what provided by the cadres of the University of Basrah , but we desperately need him , especially we live in a major crisis, the men of the University of Basrah and proved high scientific they rise in this crisis, bringing to this product has leadership in Basrah and began provinces You ask for this product, which is an integral role that the university provided to cross the epidemic crisis, which we salute and respect. As for the local government, represented by the second deputy governor of Basrah, Dr. Durgham Al- Ajwadi, he stressed that the local government encouraged and praised this achievement, and the Department of Health officially approved it, as well as the rest of the governorates, as it is a product that has proven its worth over the imported product and enhances the value of our local product in crises. As for Dr. Abdul Wahid Abdul-Hasan Kazem Al-Hajjaj, a teacher at the College of Engineering at the University of Basrah, he explained : We started from scratch and now the daily achievement of disinfectants has reached 60 tons per day and we have two production lines: a direct processing line with containers and a filling line for plastic cans and cans of 5 liters and a capacity of 20 liters of solutions that we prepare According to international health standards, through direct disinfection or use at home, and we started with a small tank, and now we have 3 production and packaging lines and a container production line, and our work continues in production to face this crisis that befell the country. At the end of the conference, the Crisis Cell listened to journalists' questions and answered them with all transparency and openness.
