The College of Pharmacy equips its laboratories with the Vitek device, the first of its kind in Iraqi universities

The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah has equipped the molecular and virological research laboratory with the Vitek 2 compact device, the first of its kind at the level of universities in Iraq.  Dr. Rafid Abdel-Raouf Dolab, who is in charge of the electron microscope, said: The laboratory for viral and molecular studies is equipped with a Vitek device, which is not available in all universities in Iraq, and its work lies in measuring all types of pathogenic bacteria and fungi and identifying their classification and sensitivity to antibiotics, and based on its results, the dose of the antibiotic can be determined.  The necessary vitality to eliminate certain bacteria or fungi.  Dolab added: The laboratory also contains several sections, including a section for PCR tests, a section for isolating viruses and how to develop them to study on them and examine them with a PCR device. There is also a section in the laboratory for molecular imaging of viruses and genes and extracting the base sequence for each virus and gene. The laboratory also includes a tissue culture section that completes the rest of the work.  Sections in the laboratory
