Two faculty members of staff from the College of Pharmacy participate in the First International Conference on Medical Sciences in Baghdad.

Prof. Dr. Falah Hassan Shari and Rafid Abdul-Raouf Dolab, the two teaching staff at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah, participated in the first joint international scientific conference on health and medical research and patents, which was organized by the Middle Technical University - College of Health and Medical Technologies in Baghdad and in cooperation with Al-Nusour University College. Where the two researchers participated in the patent: (Production of a Kit for Collecting Cough Samples to Test the Presence of the New Corona Virus from Infected People), which included the production of a kit to isolate the emerging corona virus from the cough drop of infected people. The kit contains a sterile paper filter in conical shape that represents a cover for the mouth and nose to be used to breathe forcefully or try to cough in it many times. The paper filter is placed in the paper filter with a swab of polyester polymer, on which the spray will fall during coughing and then withdraw from inside the paper filter to be placed in the conveyor tube, which It is designated to transmit the virus, then the medium is transferred with the swab to the laboratory to examine the sample with an rT-PCR device. It was found that the kit is 40% more accurate than nasopharyngeal and nasopharyngeal swabs in isolating samples of the new corona virus from patients.
