A research team at the University of Basrah has published a research in an international journal.
Lecturers at the College of Pharmacy Dr. Falah Hassan Shree,pharmacist Heba Dawood, and Dr. Jubran Khalil Hassan have published a research entitled (Study of the effect of taurine on the vital bones ,in the body and the regulation of blood glucose level in patients with type 2 diabetes) in the journal :International Journal of Research In Pharmaceutical Sciences with an impact factor 1.5 and included within index of scopus. In the study ,Taurine, an oral amino acid supplement, was given to patients with type 2 diabetes for a period of three months and then measured the concentration of bone biomarkers with body weight and blood sugar level after this period to see the effect and benefit of this supplement on the treatment of bone necrosis. The aim of this study was to study the benefit of giving taurine for a period of three months on bone biomarkers, sugar level and body weight in type 2 diabetics.
