The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah discussed the Master's thesis presented by the researcher Fatima Amer Hassan, titled: "Examination and Evaluation of Osteoporosis Biomarkers among Smokers in Basrah, Iraq."

The study involved a comprehensive analysis of 200 men from Basrah, measuring serum levels of various biomarkers (BALP, PTH, 25OHD, IL-6, OC, DKK-1, OPG, and RANKL) using the advanced ELISA technique.

The research aimed to identify statistical correlations between smoking intensity and bone remodeling indices, while discussing the potential of using "pain sensations" in smokers as an early clinical indicator of osteoporosis, aiding in the development of preventive strategies to mitigate smoking-related risks.
