A lecturer at University of Basrah publishes a research paper in an international journal.

The lecturer at the College of Pharmacy at University of Basrah , Dr. Rawaa Muhammad, published a paper entitled ( Phenotypic detection and vancomycin MICs for methicillin resistance (Staphylococcus aureus Isolated from nebulizer) In the Turkish journal(Eurasian Journal of Bioscience), which is with an impact factor 0.5, and included within Scopus index.  The research included isolating staph aureus bacteria from the nebulizer devices used by respiratory patients from a group of Basrah city hospitals.A special tests were conducted for it to diagnose the types that are resistant to methicillin, such as using chromagar staph aureus and chromagar MRSA, then using cefoxitin and vancomycin disk diffusion methods to diagnose the types of resistance to anti-vancomycin, which are considered the most dangerous types of these bacteria. The study aimed to find out the frequency of these infectious types of bacteria, which may transfer between patients, even those who do not suffer from them, and to refer to the need to sterilize devices with sterilizers available in hospitals to limit the spread of bacteria among patients
